Election Day Overview

What is Election Day? Today is the official day for the U.S. elections in local, state, and federal races. Because of the electoral college, every candidate has to win 270 delegates to win the presidential race. The popular vote refers to overall votes casted for each candidate by individuals.

Swing States:

While every vote counts, depending on what state you live in, you may get much more attention from the presidential candidates. If you live in a swing state where the vote will be close, your vote may have a much larger impact in deciding the outcome of the election, shoutout the electoral college. Most major news outlets have identified 7 key swing states in the 2024 presidential election, those being Arizona, Nevada, Michigan, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, and Georgia. Georgia as a swing state: In 2020, Georgia’s 16 electoral votes went to Biden. The first time a Democratic candidate had won the state since Bill Clinton in 1992. Although Biden won in 2020 it was by a very slim margin, with Biden winning by fewer than 12,000 votes. Georgia has also been in election news for the allegations that Trump and more than a dozen allies engaged in a criminal conspiracy to overturn Georgia's 2020 results. This controversy is now at the center of an election interference case in Fulton County Georgia, with Trump denying all wrongdoing.

Predictions

Michigan specifically will be an interesting race to watch due it’s large Arab-American population and the current administration’s handling of the genocide in Gaza. However, there's currently a rise in 3rd party popularity. Under America’s current 2 party system, 3rd parties that run for president are thought to ‘spoil’ the wins for the Republican or Democratic candidates. Think of the 2016 election when Democrats worried third parties spoiled the win for Hillary Clinton. This race will not be over tonight and will feature a myriad of lawsuits and voter fraud claims. We don’t think the presidential candidate will be confirmed until at least three weeks from election day

Final Thoughts

Bernie got this in the bag! Polls are made up.
